ABOUT US


             The National Parks, Wildlife and Plant Conservation Department (DNP) is mainly responsible for conserving and protecting the protected areas throughout the country.  Such areas possess important values of the tropical region as they contain diverse natural resources.  Based on their unique compositions and diverse ecosystems, the DNP categorized the protected areas into different units such as national parks and wildlife sanctuaries.

             Nowadays, there are a number of outside researchers both Thais and foreigners that are interested and apply for permission to study or conduct research in the protected areas.  Therefore, to manage and facilitate research affairs and permission, the DNP has set up the Committee on Consideration of Research Projects in Forests.   Their main missions and responsibility deal with consideration of research projects and provision of relevant guidelines and procedures for conducting research in PA.

              As related to research management and implementation, the Office of Forest and Plant Conservation Research has been assigned to be a cooperation unit for applying research permission, the Technical Cooperation Section (Formerly, Office of Technical Consultation/Otec.
