Objective

  1. To evaluate the status of biodiversity of forest resources
  2. To provide research result of assessment of natural resources and potential uses
  3. To provide updated information regarding biodiversity conservation and sustainable management emphasizing local community participation
  4. To propose models of conservation in the protected areas by integrating the results gained from the research activities of the project
  5. To emphasize local community participation in natural resource management
  6. To establish a biodiversity database on species, ecosystems and genetic diversity

Scope of work

  1. To assess biodiversity including forest types and species composition of plants and animals, insects, microorganisms
  2. To identify the potentail uses of biodiversity in a sustainable way
  3. To implement conservation activities on sustainable use of biodiversity
  4. To develop human resources for biodiversity conservation, through dissemination of knowledge which can assist the protection on biodiversity

Activities

  1. To develop the capability to identify, introduce and propagate plant species on the verge of extinction with a potential commercial value
  2. To enhance collaborative efforts
  3. To improve in existing forest species as an important of plant genetic resources
  4. To establish long-term partnerships with neigbouring countries
  5. To establish biodiversity conservation through integrated development planning
  6. To conduct public awareness of biodiversity conservation
  7. To provide training opportunities of researchers, relevant staff, rangers and community leaders
  8. To promote knowledge and services to local communities with subsequent assistance to the government in monitoring the biodiversity
  9. To prepare a biodiversity data management
  10. To enhance monitoring systems and to integrate components comprehensive conservation
  11. To increase number of researchers, relevant staff, rangers and community leaders trained in biodiversity conservation
  12. To increase the study of biodiversity and ecosystem in the target area
  13. To up grate and network references centers in implementing agencies of biodiversity conservation
  14. To increase the awareness of the importance on biodiversity and conservation in the public Workshop
